5th Reflection on Micro Teaching

This week I got some examples of my friends' half class teaching. Some of them are happy with their chance, they enjoyed their 15' teaching, but the rest look unprepared and nervous. So, what I learned here is to teach a class you have to really master the materials and have some practices on it. Monologue-ing it is good as a practice, you may find anything else suit on you =)

The observation system worked well in the class. The next teacher could learn from the previous teaching and hopefully not doing same mistakes. I think this is more valuable than only having a theory about how to do your teaching. It helps, yes, but not as much as learning through the observation.

I didn't attend the second meeting of this week because it was rainy, I fallen asleep, no body woke me up, so I had been already late when I woke up, etc (classic reasons XP). It was already 4 p.m. and I hadn't took a bath yet. Then I decided not to attend the second meeting, regretted doing this~~

Just a note part 3

Last week my Sociolinguistic lecturer showed me a film, My Fair Lady. From language used the film must be took time at 1950s. Well, my first thought which arise, is this film have any relation with this song, London Bridge is Falling Down. Well, I thought it was a song at the first time, a song that appeared at an anime film, Kuroshitsuji. Actually I had heard this rhyme in other occasion but it didn't interest me. I just interested with this song after watching the anime :P
Well, I haven't finished watching the film yet, hopes can finish it this week (for making my group overview also) and answer some curiosities xP xP

Just a note part 1

If you see my blog wall was too strange, my deep apologize would be yours, I'm in my process in regaining my memories with playing these "codes". I kind of forgetting them since my other activities are too busy as hell (lol!).

So, please please please remind me or help me to memorize those "codes" so I can make up this blog wall and satisfy your eyes :P

regards,
de_tachi

4th Reflection on Micro Teaching

This week I got my turn to have my 15' teaching. I felt like I don't know what to do since this is my first time on teaching in front of a proper class. I just enjoyed my first time, since my only experience on teaching is being a private English teacher (twice on my life) and I never facing this form of class. I was thinking of duplicating English teacher of my Junior High School, Mr. Frans, but this is too impossible. He was a kind of expert and too complicated to duplicate, even though he looks relaxed when teaching my class at that time. So, I came with my own style. I tried to be cheered up and stay close to my students. The bad thing is I do some grammatical mistakes, I had revised it though. Thanks to Fafa and Mr. Prast for observing my first teaching. I hope I can be more relaxed and know what am I going to do when teaching in front of the class by making a proper lesson plan.

Unfortunately I couldn't attend the second meeting of this week because I didn't have the outfit. I didn't have a blouse to wear since all of the outfit borrowed from my mother, and she is skinnier than me and at that time no one of his blouse left fit in me. This was my fault, being too dependent to my mother's outfit.

In this assignment, students are asked to search an English article on the internet which fulfill this requirements,
1. theme, topic: choose by your own, e.g.: art, theater (art is the theme and theater is the topic)
2. length of the article: minimum 2 pages maximum 4 pages.

Afterward, the students have to make a summary of the article (0,5 page at the min and 1,5 pages at the max), the reason why they choose the article (0,5 page - 1 page), opinion about the article (0,5 page - 1page, more on the main idea of the article), a list of difficult words (min. 15 words, provide also the English or Indonesian meaning, you can get it from the dictionary). Then they have to type it in the Ms. Word, don't forget to provide name, class, and student number, also don't forget to attach the article by copy-paste it behind your work with their requirements. 3rd Reflection on Micro Teaching Class

Micro Teaching Reflection week-3
1.       Micro Teaching class. Why am I joining this class? Firstly because joining this class is a must if I want to pass my S1 degree. Secondly because I think I could practice the teaching skills in this class, learn each other both with my friends of the lecturer. Even the lecturer said that we’re all the same teacher I have another idea that it is not true actually. He might be wanted to support us so we can be more confident and thought that teaching is fun, I mean an interesting job to do. In fact, some of my friends don’t want to be a teacher, so they join PBI only to get another skills provided here. But, if my lecturer idea worked, I mean they who at the first time don’t want to be a teacher change their mind afterward (after joining this class), congratulation, Sir!
2.       I myself couldn’t say that I’m 100% want this course and wanted to be a teacher. Basically, why I like this things because I like to share any thought, idea, new information, or else to others. I felt that I get satisfied after sharing something I consider important for people to know. I also fond of meeting or knowing new people. New people mean new thing to know, new thing to learn, new thing to get understand. And I thought I could meet those things by teaching. I don’t know, maybe there’s another thing that could meet those things to me. The other thing why I chose PBI is the less awareness of my schoolmate of the importance of studying English. They thought that English is not important since we don’t have to use it in our society (as the communication tool). Oh my God, they must be unconscious!
3.       I have no idea what negative thing I would get in this class. But, the positive thing, I think I would get some of them like some teaching skills, some teaching experiences, and also my own experience in teaching. Actually I’m not as active as my friends in giving private lesson. I only did it twice, the first time is guiding my schoolmate before facing her UAN, the second one is a small conversation class consisted of seven people. We share anything here and the most interesting part is they are not in the same ages, some of them are housewives, and the others are junior high school and elementary school students.

Thanks for reading :D:D:D

2nd Reflection on Micro Teaching Class

Micro Teaching Reflection week-2

1.      The most important thing I learned on the course in this week is some comprehension about how to teach, from the opening until the closure. Yes, I noted them all on my notes but I realize that it is not easy to be a perfect teacher as mentioned on the notes. I experienced it in a peer teaching. Well, I thought that I easily distracted by my student. Well, I hope that I could improve my skill especially on that part.

2.     Here I have achieved an experience of a peer teaching, although it was only teaching my friend we couldn’t say it’s easy as flipping hand. Still, it needs an improvement and I’m sure it will appear in my learning process of teaching. Some of my friend got their turn to teach in front of a half class in the same time. First is of course they are distracting each other but they can survive by keep concentrated on their class. It wasn’t an easy job to do I think.

3.     I have a question, how could I behave, as a teacher, to my students if I want to be a friendly teacher but in sincere way. I mean, if I act too friendly the students will think that I’m over do it or not sincere.

Thanks for reading =)

1st reflection on micro teaching class

On the 24th of February 2011 in Micro Teaching class, my class learned to do the peer teaching. We have a topic to teach our peer friend in 15 minutes and vice versa. I was overtime in my first teaching at that time since I didn’t realize the sign of the last 5 minutes given by the lecturer. My friend then commented on my teaching that actually my teaching is communicative but sometimes I was out of the context because I was too interested in having conversation with my student.

So, I found the peer teaching is fun but I didn’t really know what to do at the first time. But when it comes to the time I teach I felt it can flow by itself.
